In a video on her social media, she became emotional while describing residents struggling to access basic necessities.
“There’s a community in Mandera East that needs urgent food and water supply,” she said in the clip.
At one point during the recording, Yusuff broke down in tears while explaining the situation, saying it was difficult to witness people still struggling to access essentials such as food and clean water.
The video circulated widely across social media platforms, with users sharing the clip and calling for support to reach the affected families.

Food and Water Shortages Highlighted
According to Yusuff’s appeal, several households in the area are facing immediate shortages and require urgent intervention.
The comedian asked her followers and well-wishers to assist through donations and support initiatives aimed at supplying relief items.
Key needs highlighted in the appeal include:
- Food supplies for affected households
- Clean and safe drinking water
- Emergency assistance for vulnerable families
The video sparked online discussions about humanitarian needs in northern Kenya, with social media users tagging organisations and local leaders in calls for assistance.
Ongoing Humanitarian Challenges in Northern Kenya
Parts of northern Kenya, including Mandera County, have experienced recurring humanitarian challenges linked to drought and limited access to water.
According to the National Drought Management Authority, arid and semi-arid counties in Kenya are particularly vulnerable to prolonged dry periods, which affect livestock, pasture, and household food supplies.
Regional assessments by humanitarian agencies have also noted that drought conditions across the Horn of Africa in recent years have left millions of people in need of food assistance and clean water.
Communities in counties such as Mandera, Wajir and Turkana rely heavily on livestock and rain-fed livelihoods, which are highly affected by prolonged dry seasons.

Social Media Used to Mobilize Support
Yusuff has previously used her online platforms to highlight humanitarian concerns and mobilize assistance for drought-affected communities.
During an earlier campaign supporting families in northern Kenya, the comedian reported that more than KSh600,000 was raised through online donations to purchase and distribute food supplies.
