Pritty Vishy Shares Honest Take on Men After Watching ‘The Polygamist’

The South African drama The Polygamist has taken Netflix by storm since its debut on 12 June 2026. The 22-episode series is an adaptation of Sue Nyathi’s popular 2012 novel.

Viewers across the continent have been binge-watching the show and flooding social media with their reactions.

Content creator Pritty Vishy is one of the Kenyan celebrities who has made her feelings about the drama known after sharing her raw and honest thoughts. Taking to her Instagram stories, Vishy focused her critique on the lead character, Jonasi Gomora, and the toxic reality his lifestyle represents for many women.

Pritty Vishy’s Honest Take

Pritty Vishy focused heavily on the impact Jonasi’s actions had on the women in his life, particularly his wife.

Vishy issued a stark warning to her female followers about the dangers of staying in toxic cycles of infidelity.

“Ladies, in most cases a Jonas doesn’t die as Joyce does,” she wrote. She urged women to stop giving endless chances to men who repeatedly cheat.

According to Vishy, these men often risk the health and peace of their partners. She noted that while the men move on with their lives, the women are often left to carry the pain and consequences alone.

“Stop giving endless chances to men who keep cheating. Some will risk your health and your peace, then move on with their lives while you’re left carrying the pain and consequences,” she added.

A Personal Connection

Vishy also revealed that the show’s themes hit close to home for her. She stated that she was not personally traumatised by the series because of her own upbringing.

“Some of us are (me) not traumatized by ‘POLYGAMIST SERIES’ coz our (my) dads were Jonasi,” she shared with her audience.

“Choose yourself. Choose your children. It’s hard to leave, it might be hard to leave but love yourself enough to walk away,” she ended with a piece of advice.

The Man at the Centre

The story begins at the funeral of Jonasi Gomora. He is a wealthy and charismatic CEO who seemingly had everything. On the surface, he leaves behind a picture-perfect family, including his influencer wife, Joyce.

However, his death marks the beginning of several shocking revelations. Secrets about his hidden relationships with a second wife, a mistress, and a girlfriend soon emerge. This unravelling empire exposes a world of lies, revenge, and family chaos.

The character of Jonasi, played by veteran actor Sdumo Mtshali, has sparked intense debate. While some praise the production quality and acting, others focus on the emotional cost of his actions.

The series is described by many as an exploration of power, betrayal, and the heavy weight of patriarchy.

A Global Conversation

The show continues to trend days after its release, capturing global attention. Much of the talk centres on whether Jonasi represents true polygamy or simply serial cheating wrapped in wealth.

Discussions have touched on loyalty, greed, and gender expectations. For many, like Pritty Vishy, the show is a reminder of the importance of self-love and the courage required to walk away from betrayal.
