Irungu Kang’ata mourns death of long-serving secretary Rosemary

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has announced the death of the county’s long-serving secretary, Warina Rosemary, describing her as a dedicated public servant who played a central role in the day-to-day operations of the Governor’s office.

The governor did not disclose the cause of death.

In his tribute issued Wednesday, Kang’ata highlighted her professionalism and consistency over the years, pointing to cordial working relationship they shared.

“We mourn the passing of Warina Rosemary, long-serving secretary in the Governor’s office. For years, she served with loyalty, discipline, and quiet grace. She was the steady hand behind our work and the warm smile in our long days,” he said.

The governor, who has led Murang’a county since August 2022 in his first term after previously serving as senator and Kiharu MP, described her death as a significant loss not only to his office but also to the wider county government.

He noted that Rosemary’s contribution extended beyond routine administrative duties, portraying her as a dependable figure who ensured continuity and stability in the office.

“Murang’a has lost a faithful public servant. We have lost a friend. To her family: thank you for sharing her with us. May God grant you strength, and may her soul rest in peace,” Kang’ata added.

Before Kang’ata assumed office, Rosemary had served in a similar capacity under former governor Mwangi wa Iria, who led the county for two terms between 2013 and 2022.

Her ability to serve across different administrations underscored her institutional knowledge and commitment to public service.

News of her death was received with heavy hearts by colleagues and members of the public who had interacted with her over the years.

Messages of condolence described her as diligent, approachable, and unwavering in her duties.

“A good servant. Served under Wairia with a smile and continued to serve you. May Rosemary rest in peace,” one mourner said.

Another added, “Peace that surpasses understanding. Poleni sana. May the Almighty God grant the family the strength, courage and fortitude to endure the pain and loss. May her spirit rest in eternal peace.”
