Moses Wekesa appointed as Kenya Airports Authority CEO

The Kenya Airports Authority has appointed Moses Wekesa as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.

His appointment follows a competitive recruitment process, with the board citing his experience in managing large-scale projects across multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, the Pacific, and Africa.

In a statement on Tuesday, Wekesa previously served as Business Development Director at KenGen, where he was involved in driving growth in the company’s core operations.

His background in infrastructure development is expected to support ongoing efforts to strengthen Kenya’s aviation sector.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from University of Nairobi, and postgraduate qualifications in finance and project planning from the University of Bradford.

The board also acknowledged Mohamud Gedi, the General Manager for Finance, for serving as Acting Managing Director during the transition period.

Wekesa takes over at a time when KAA is implementing major infrastructure projects, including the modernisation and expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, aimed at enhancing Kenya’s role as a regional aviation and logistics hub.
