President William Ruto has escalated his personal and political onslaught against his former deputy and United Opposition leader Rigathi Gachagua. William Ruto Fires Fresh Attack at Gachagua, Brands Him Saboteur and Non-Performer: “One-Term MP” Source: Facebook During his development tour of Kasipul constituency on Sunday, March 22, Ruto declared his readiness to face them head-on with Gachagua ahead of the 2027 General Election. In his speech, Ruto attacked Gachagua, branding him a tribalist, saboteur and a non-performer with no vision for the country. The head of state termed the former Mathira lawmaker as a one-term MP who never sponsored any bill or motion in the National Assembly. “That man has no track record. He has no plan whatsoever for this nation. He was a one-term MP who never contributed to any debate, never sponsored a bill or motion,” Ruto said The president criticised Gachagua for failing to deliver on key assignments, such as coffee sector reforms and combating illicit alcohol, alleging that the former deputy president instead engaged in extortion and sided with cartels. The president dismissed the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader’s leadership credentials, insisting he lacks the capacity to lead the country. “I gave him an opportunity to help fix the coffee sector, but he teamed up with cartels, asking farmers for illegal levies. I asked him to deal with illicit brews, but he became an extortionist targeting businesspeople. I want to tell that character; you will lead no one, nowhere, and nobody,” he claimed.
