NTSA rolls out automated instant fines for traffic offenders

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has launched an automated Instant Fines Traffic Management System to tame traffic offences.

As part of the system to improve transparency and efficiency, Kenyan drivers will now receive instantaneous SMS notices of traffic violations.

“This process is fully automated and operates without human intervention, ensuring greater transparency, efficiency, and accountability in traffic enforcement,” NTSA said in a statement on Monday.

Under the directive, all fines issued through the system shall be paid through the branch network of KCB Group within 7 days.

NTSA cautioned that there would be additional interest on the amount owed if the fines were not paid within the allocated time.

“The vehicle or the driver with pending fine will not be able to transact on NTSA service platforms until the fine is settled,” said the Authority.

NTSA further urged motorists to observe all traffic regulations and respond promptly to any official notifications received.

The action is a part of continuous government initiatives to raise road safety nationwide and increase adherence to traffic laws.
