According to reports by Citizen Digital, Stephen Fakur Rando was driving a Toyota Porte from Kaloleni towards Mariakani when the vehicle veered off and struck six pedestrians walking along the road. Police officers who processed the scene confirmed that three pedestrians—a female adult and two male adults—died on the spot, while two others sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was also injured in the crash. The injured were rushed to Mariakani District Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to Coast General Hospital Mortuary. The ill-fated Toyota Porte car involved in the accident was towed to Mariakani Police Station for inspection as investigations into the incident continue.
Law enforcement officers are working to confirm the identities of the deceased. The crash adds to the numerous accidents that have occurred in the country since the year began despite calls from the authorities urging motorists to observe traffic laws. As celebrations progress, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has called on Kenyans to celebrate Christmas with moderation and adhere to laws.
