Musician Njugush has joined millions around the world in marking Mother’s Day, weeks after publicly confirming his separation from longtime partner Celestine Ndinda.
The comedian, who shares two sons with Ndinda, posted a simple tribute celebrating mothers across the globe.
His message, however, quickly sparked reactions online, with many fans noticing he did not make a direct mention of the mother of his children as he had done in previous years.
Njugush Shares General Mother’s Day Message
In his Instagram post, Njugush shared an artwork showing a mother embracing two children. He paired the image with George Wanjaro’s song Guciara Kunaga Irigu, a track that praises mothers for their sacrifices and dedication to family.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all wonderful mothers!” he captioned the post.
Meanwhile, Ndinda also marked the occasion on her Instagram Stories, where she shared photos and clips celebrating motherhood.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all moms out here 😍,” she wrote.
The two announced earlier this year that they had decided to part ways in 2025 after years together.
In a statement shared online, Njugush explained that the separation was mutual and that they were focused on peacefully co-parenting their children.
Fans React to the Missing Tribute
Shortly after Njugush’s post went up, social media users flooded comment sections with mixed reactions.
Some fans urged him to publicly appreciate Ndinda directly, noting that she remains the mother of his children despite their separation.
“Post Wakavinye acha uchoyo,” one fan commented.
“Hii general message tumekataa. You can do better, Njugush,” another added.
Others defended the comedian, arguing that Mother’s Day does not necessarily require public tributes to former partners.
“It is Mother’s Day, not ex-wives’ day,” another user wrote.

Separation Continues to Fuel Online Discussion
The Mother’s Day reactions come amid continued speculation surrounding the pair’s separation and finances.
Recently, claims circulated online alleging that Njugush had secretly registered his properties and vehicles under his mother’s name following the breakup.
The rumours gained traction after a viral discussion by presenters on Radio Maisha suggested that the comedian may have transferred ownership of his assets.
However, blogger Edgar Obare later shared documents allegedly sourced from the National Transport and Safety Authority database showing that two matatus linked to the couple were still jointly registered under both Njugush and Ndinda.
The situation also drew comparisons online to Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi, whose financial arrangements became a major topic of online debate in recent years.
Despite the speculation and online scrutiny, both Njugush and Ndinda have continued to maintain a relatively calm public approach as they navigate life after separation.
