Kenyan singer Nikita Kering’ has added another major accolade to her collection after winning the Best Female in East Africa award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).
The award ceremony was held in Dallas, Texas, where Nikita emerged ahead of a competitive list of female artistes from across East Africa.
The “Niwache” singer was up against fellow Kenyans Njerae and Bridgit Blue, alongside Tanzania’s Abigail Chams and Zuchu, Ethiopia’s Veronica Adane and Salemia, Rwanda’s Ariel Wayz, and Uganda’s Winnie Mwagi.
Her victory makes her the only Kenyan artiste to take home an AFRIMMA award at the 2026 ceremony, giving Kenya a notable moment on the international stage.

Fifth AFRIMMA Award
The latest recognition is also a significant milestone for Nikita, marking her fifth AFRIMMA award.
The singer previously won twice in 2019 before adding another two awards in 2021.
Her latest victory now extends her impressive run at the awards, reinforcing her consistent presence among East Africa’s recognised female musical acts.
For Nikita, the achievement comes as another recognition of her music and growing influence beyond Kenya.
Beats Competition From Regional Stars
The category brought together some of the region’s most talked-about female artistes, making Nikita’s victory particularly notable.
She had to overcome competition from established names such as Zuchu and rising talents including Njerae and Abigail Chams.
The win also gives Kenya something to celebrate at a ceremony that brings together artistes from different parts of the continent and the African diaspora.
Nikita’s success has continued to attract attention to her work, with the latest award adding another international honour to her career.
