Kenyan musician Nikita Kering has published a statement of gratitude after collaborating with content creator Crazy Kennar on a comedy video depicting the hurdles of co-parenting.
The project highlights the friction between a separated couple attempting to manage shared custody of their young child.
A Strict Custody Schedule and Tug-of-War
The comedy skit opens with a formal court ruling that divides custody of the child across the week. Under the court order, one parent receives four days—Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday—while the other receives three days—Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Friction arises immediately during the handover process on Monday. When one parent attempts to bid farewell, the other insists, “You say bye during your day.” The pair even resort to playing rock, paper, scissors to resolve basic parenting disputes.
Escalating Tactics to Win Over Baby Jayden
The video illustrates the competing parenting styles and grand gestures employed by each parent to impress baby Jayden. Conflict flares over diet, with one parent warning that “junk food will finish” while the other counters, “Let the boy have fun.”
Everyday moments, such as solving a basic arithmetic problem involving five oranges minus two to leave three, become battlegrounds for attention.
The rivalry intensifies when new partners and costly gifts are introduced to sway the child’s favour. One parent calls out, “Jayden, come. See what your new daddy has bought you.”
The tussle reaches its peak at a birthday celebration held on Saturday. As the father attempts to present the birthday cake, the mother arrives in a helicopter to sweep the child away, asserting her assigned custody day.
Nervousness Turned into Immediate Agreement
Following the release of the video, Nikita Kering, who acted as the mother, shared her full written reaction to the collaboration. She disclosed that she initially felt uncertain before reading the material.
“Last week, I had the pleasure of working with Kennar on his latest video, highlighting a couple and their challenges when co-parenting,” Kering stated.
“When he first presented the idea to me, I was nervous until I read the first page of the script and immediately agreed to it.“
Kering explained that the quality of the script eliminated any need for strict memorization. “I didn’t care to memorize the script because it just made utter sense!” she wrote.
“Not only was the writing itself hilarious, but even the manner in which he described and visualized the lines in the brackets was enough to make me feel as though I was already watching the skit.“

Reflecting on the production experience, Kering expressed deep admiration for Kennar and his production crew.
“All in all, I left there with one thing: inspiration,” Kering noted. “It’s been a while since I saw and worked with such an exceptional team with an even more exceptional leader.“
She concluded her statement by commending Kennar’s broader social impact beyond comedy.
“Thank you for the work you put behind this and everything else you do,” she stated. “I’m sure the work you have put into mental health awareness has already saved many lives.“
