Prophet Victor Kanyari has sparked a fresh storm by claiming he knows what caused the death of his former partner, the renowned Kikuyu gospel musician Betty Bayo.
The controversial preacher made these claims during a recent church service, where he also alleged that he is being denied access to his two children.
Betty Bayo passed away in November 2025 following a short illness. She left behind two children from her previous relationship with Kanyari—a daughter named Sky and a son named Danny.
Evidence of the Cause of Death
In a move that has shocked many, Kanyari threatened to go public with what he described as “evidence” regarding the singer’s passing. He claimed he has been holding back information but is now prepared to reveal the truth to the public.

“There are some things I know… one day I will reveal what killed Betty Bayo. I am not a foolish person. Very soon, I will make things clear,” he said during the service.
The preacher emphasised that he loved the late singer and her family, but insisted that the return of Sky and Danny was his priority.
The Custody Dispute
The preacher’s remarks were delivered during an explosive address to his congregation. Kanyari claimed that since Bayo’s death, he has been prevented from taking custody of his children.
Kanyari suggested that his current silence on certain family matters was only due to the respect he held for Bayo’s mother. However, he warned that this silence would not last if the situation regarding his children remained unchanged.

A Family in Mourning
Betty Bayo was a household name in the Kikuyu gospel industry, known for her powerful vocals and hits that resonated with many across Kenya. Her death in late 2025 was met with widespread grief from fans and fellow artists alike.
Kanyari’s remarks come days after his daughter, Sky, went live on TikTok claiming that since Betty Bayo’s death, everyone stopped checking on her and brother, Danny.
“Guys, when I say zero people check up on us, if you know you are my mum’s friend, you have never come to our house, you have never come to check up on us. So they never come, they never check up on Danny or me. After my mum went, they also went,” she emotionally said.
