The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a compliance reminder to taxpayers, with five separate tax return deadlines falling on or before June 20, 2026. KRA has issued a reminder to taxpayers to file returns for five crucial taxes. In a notice shared via its official social media channels, the tax authority urged businesses and individuals to file their returns for Value Added Tax (VAT), Excise Returns, Turnover Tax (TOT), Monthly Rental Income Tax (MRI), and VAT on Digital Marketplace Supply before the looming deadline. “The deadline to file returns for Value Added Tax, Excise Returns, Turnover Tax, Monthly Rental Income Tax, and VAT on Digital Marketplace Supply is on or before June 20. Malizana nayo saa hizi,” KRA urged. The June 20 deadline represents what tax experts describe as the “KRA monthly filing peak,” covering a wide range of tax obligations. The affected tax categories such as Value Added Tax (VAT), Excise Returns, Turnover Tax (TOT), Monthly Rental Income Tax (MRI) and VAT on Digital Marketplace Supply.
Taxpayers who fail to meet the deadline face significant financial penalties. To ease the filing rush, KRA has extended working hours across its service points. Service Centres and Tax Service Offices are operating from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays through June 26. Selected Huduma Centres in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Meru, Kiambu, and Kisumu are also providing in-person assistance during extended hours. Taxpayers are encouraged to file online via the iTax platform at itax.kra.go.ke to avoid queues and last-minute complications. For assistance, taxpayers can contact KRA through 0711 099 999 or email callcentre@kra.go.ke. Non-resident digital service suppliers without a fixed place of business in Kenya can register under the simplified tax registration framework via the iTax portal. Those who choose not to register must appoint a tax representative responsible for performing all tax obligations, including return submissions and payments. “The filing deadline is fast approaching, and we’re here to help. The Contact Centre, selected KRA Service Centres and Huduma Kenya Centres, will extend working hours to support you before the June 30, 2026, deadline,” the taxman stated.
