Sh100k Cross Dressing Bet Mulamwah Has with Butita

When Comedian Kevin Hart began his trade, he was of the opinion that comedians who can’t get gigs on actual stages need to create their own wherever they can perform.

This was because of his experience during his early performances.

This man’s journey together with Dave Chapelle has inspired Mulamwah along the way.

Kendrick Oyando aka Mulamwah addressed such matters in an appearance at tv47 with Dr Ofweneke April 2, 2025.

Comedian Mulamwah

“Ni woga. It is fear that holds us back. Also, we haven’t given people reason to believe in us. You know these people they just need proof that if we come -for your show- we will get value for our money. So, we- artistes- haven’t done that yet, . If we can begin this, we grow from five to ten-minute comedy, then we need more content, different content, to tackle different things. You know satire can come from different things. It should be content that say someone watching from Tanzania can consume”

Shaking his head in agreement, Ofweneke sought to know if this can be done in Kenya.

“That’s how those people (international comedians) fill stadiums. That’s how someone can travel from South Africa to US to watch Dave Chapelle because what he is saying, someone in Kazakhstan can laugh at, so we should aim for universal content. Thats how I believe that’s how we will attract larger audiences to come for our shows”

Adding

“We go from small arenas to stadiums. It’s something that can be done”

What is his view on male comedians dressing up in female clothes. Would he ever dress like a woman?

“”No, no.” he shook his head in denial.

He continued to say

“Infact, I made a bet with Butita four years ago, of sh100,000 for whoever among us will wear female clothes first. We are very few male comedians left who don’t cross dress. Hatufiki five, hata uki count. Tuko wachahce sana, and it’s very difficult, in this Kenyan market to create content, as a male character. So inapewa respect. When you see a male comedian dressed up in female attire getting 100k views, while the male who isn’t dressed like that getting 5k views, then that one with 5k views is the real OG, that’s the real guy, because the day they wear a dress, then they will get 80million views.”

“But it’s a free world, right? If that’s how your craft makes you money, you do that. It’s their preference,”

Mulamwah stand up show set for April 20

“The date is 420. April 20th, It will be great, it is my first ever most of the time I have been doing short shows. This one we shall have enough time. It is called let me explain. People have been trying to peel the pieces, to know more about me, but they have not been able to know better, they have not been able to know why some things happen, So that day I will package everything into a comical vibe.”

This will be at the Kenya National Theatre.

“Gates open at 5pm, with opening acts “The main shows starts at 8pm. Give it one hour, we shall be done. So, everything you want to know, like Mulamwah what’s the biggest problem of having two baby mamas’, I always tell people, the biggest problem of having two baby mamas is getting the third one.” he kidded.
