Google has made it a norm to celebrate different occasions by creating special doodles on its home page. Google unveils new doodle to celebrate Jamhuri Day. On Thursday, December 12, Google marked Kenya’s Jamhuri Day with a one-of-a-kind doodle to celebrate the nation’s independence and rich cultural heritage.
Details of Google Jamhuri Day doodle The artwork features a waving Kenyan flag interlocked in a black, green, red and white space depicting the colours. The background shows the country’s landscapes reflecting Kenya’s beauty. To accompany the doodle, Google attached a brief message honouring the nation’s journey since independence in 1963.
They further wished Kenyans a happy Jmahuri day explaining more about the day. “Today’s Doodle celebrates Kenya’s Jamhuri Day! Jamhuri is the Swahili word for “republic.” On this day in 1963, Kenya gained its freedom and independence after many years of foreign rule.
To further add to the significance of December 12th, the budding nation officially adopted the name “the Republic of Kenya” a year later,” wrote Google. Moreover, Kenyans across various social media platforms appreciated and shared the beautiful artwork. Kenya celebrates Jamhuri Day at Uhuru Gardens Kenya is celebrating its 61st Jamhuri Day at Nairobi County’s Uhuru Gardens, an event to be presided over by President William Ruto.
The venue’s gates opened at 6 am on Thursday, December 12, when Kenyans began trickling in. Security has been deployed across the capital city to ensure a smooth flow of the ceremony. Moreover, by 9 am, Kenyans had filled the venue, awaiting the arrival of the head of state, who got in at around 9.40 am.
