Black Panther actress Lupita Nyong’o has confirmed her breakup with former Dawson’s Creek actor Joshua Jackson.
The Kenyan-American star shared the news during a photoshoot with Harper’s Bazaar UK, where she was photographed with her cat, Yoyo.
Lupita and Joshua first sparked relationship rumors in October 2023, when they were spotted together at a Janelle Monáe concert in Inglewood, California, shortly after Lupita announced her split from South African musician Hugh Masekela.
In December 2023, the couple was seen holding hands while taking a stroll in Joshua Tree, California, and later, in March 2024, they were photographed kissing in Mexico while celebrating Lupita’s 41st birthday.
However, in September 2024, Joshua was seen publicly with another woman, leading to speculation about the status of their relationship.
On October 9, Lupita confirmed her single status, stating, “My love for my cat is singular.”
Speaking about her beloved pet Yoyo in her Harper’s Bazaar UK interview, Lupita added, “If I’m ever so lucky to be in a romantic relationship again, it’ll be because of him. I was ready to shut that door and lock it, but he has ensured that my heart remains open.”
Lupita adopted Yoyo last year, and the bond between them appears to be her current source of comfort.
