The Social Health Authority (SHA) has extended the deadline for healthcare providers to complete contracting for the 2026-2029 cycle by 14 days.
In a notice dated October 1, 2026, SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Mercy Mwangangi said the new deadline is October 14, giving healthcare facilities more time to complete the process.
“During the extension period, facilities will continue operating under their existing contracts,” Mwangangi said.
She said the existing contracts, which ended on September 30, will lapse after the 14-day extension, with no further extension to be granted.
Providers will receive an extension to their healthcare provider contract covering the 14-day period through the e-contracting platform. They must confirm acceptance, sign and return the agreement within three days to ensure continuity of services to SHA beneficiaries.
“Service provision to SHA beneficiaries will only continue in facilities that accept the 14-day extension period,” Mwangangi said.
Facilities that do not accept the extension have been directed to make arrangements with their respective SHA county managers to transfer patients receiving ongoing care to contracted providers.
The authority will also conduct dedicated HAKIKA contracting clinics in every county from Monday, October 5, to support providers completing the contracting process.
The clinics will be held through respective SHA County Offices. The HAKIKA Clinics schedule and provider requirements will be posted on the SHA website.
SHA encouraged facilities with all the required documents to complete the contracting process without waiting for the deadline.
According to the authority, 10,006 providers have so far expressed interest and are at various stages of the contracting process.
