President William Ruto’s son George Ruto has revealed plans to visit Teacher Cillah’s school and support learners with equipment, following weeks of viral social media banter over her playful marriage proposal.
George addressed the saga publicly on August 24, 2026, during the Miss Universe Kenya grand finale, where he explained that the marriage talk was largely social media banter.
George rules out social media marriage
The saga began earlier this month after Teacher Cillah, a teacher and content creator, jokingly expressed interest in marrying George following Charlene Ruto’s traditional wedding.
The exchange gained momentum after George responded to one of her posts by asking for her Teachers Service Commission registration number.
Cillah later shared posts imagining their wedding, including an AI-generated image of the two as a married couple.
However, George has now made his position clear.
“Marriage is a lifelong agreement with someone, so you can’t just meet someone on social media and then agree on social media.”
He described the saga as social media hype rather than an actual relationship.
George discovers Cillah’s work
Despite distancing himself from the marriage narrative, George said the online attention led him to learn more about Cillah and her work as a teacher.
He said he discovered that Cillah supports children with special needs at Westlands Primary School.
According to George, he and his team now plan to visit the school and offer support, including football equipment, learning materials and other items.
“We plan on visiting to support them with football equipment, learning equipment and so many other things.”
From viral jokes to a school visit
The development gives the months-long online exchange a different ending.
What began with Cillah publicly shooting her shot at George evolved into jokes about marriage, dowry negotiations and even a possible name change to “Mrs GK.”
George also fueled the banter at different points, including when he jokingly asked for Cillah’s TSC number and later posted asking who “Tr. Cillah” was.
While the romantic angle appears to have been put to rest, George’s latest comments show that the viral exchange may result in something more tangible: support for learners at Cillah’s school.
