Rayon Sports finished the match with 10 men after a player was sent off in the 120th minute, but the dismissal came too late for Gor Mahia to capitalise as the hosts held on to seal a memorable victory.
The defeat extends Gor Mahia’s wait for a first CECAFA Kagame Cup title since 1985, although Charles Akonnor’s side can take plenty of positives from an encouraging campaign as they turn their attention to the CAF Champions League.
