Karen Nyamu Reveals She Is Taken: “My Relationship Is Very Private Now”

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has revealed that she is no longer single. Speaking on the AMTV podcast with Alex Mwakideu, the legislator confirmed she is in a new relationship. However, she has chosen to keep this part of her life away from the public eye.

Nyamu explained that her decision comes after years of having her personal life discussed on social media. She described her new situation as one focused on peace and happiness.

“Right now I am taken and my relationship is very private. Sai ni peace pekee yake, I don’t need opinion of online in-laws,” she said.

Learning from the Past

The Senator reflected on her previous high-profile relationship with Mugithi musician Samidoh. Their history was often marked by public drama and social media scrutiny. Nyamu admitted that such public displays were exhausting.

“Mapenzi ya mtandao ni draining na iko na performance mengi sana,” she told Mwakideu.

She noted that couples often feel pressured to project a perfect image. This is frequently done to counter critics or “haters” online.

“Yaani ni performative yaani unataka kuput out there what people want to see.”

The Choice for Privacy

Nyamu now advises other people against posting their partners on the internet. She believes that keeping a relationship private protects the bond between two people.

“I advise people not to do it. Don’t post your relationship, you want to do those things for what?” she said.

She confessed that in the past, she sometimes posted content just to prove a point during difficult times.

“Sometimes sasa zile vitu ziko mbaya kabisa kwanza sasa hivo ndio unataka kupost kuonyesha to prove a point because we had so many haters online,” she explained.

Space and Independence

The Senator also shared her unconventional views on living arrangements. She revealed that she prefers having her own space rather than living with a partner full-time.

“Wewe kwako mimi kwangu,” she stated.

She believes that constant proximity can stifle romance. To her, a healthy relationship requires room to breathe.

“Mapenzi inaneed space kama vile plant inahitaji jua.”

Background on the Story

Karen Nyamu’s relationship with singer Samidoh (Samuel Muchoki) was a mainstay of Kenyan entertainment news for years. The pair have two children together. The relationship was complicated by the fact that Samidoh was married to Edday Nderitu.
