Kenyan comedian, prankster and live streamer Nicki BigFish has opened up about why he does not believe in love, saying he considers it an idea people create rather than a real emotion.
Speaking during an interview with Alex Mwakideu, Nicki shared his views on relationships, marriage and why he believes what many people call love is actually a bond that develops over time.
His remarks came as the two discussed whether he plans to get married.
‘I don’t believe in love’
When Mwakideu asked him about marriage, Nicki admitted that settling down is not something on his mind at the moment.
“Kuoa pia mambo ya kuoa sipo vile. I don’t believe in love.”
The response caught the presenter by surprise, prompting him to ask whether he had heard correctly.
Alex Mwakideu: “Oh, you don’t believe in love?”
Nicki BigFish: “I don’t believe in love.”
Mwakideu then jokingly asked whether someone had broken his heart.
“Why, bro? Who broke your heart?”
Nicki insisted his opinion was not the result of heartbreak.
“I don’t believe it’s real. It’s a hoax. It’s fake.”

Love is just a bond, he says
Explaining his point of view, Nicki said he believes that what people describe as love is simply familiarity and emotional attachment that grows between two people.
According to him, when people spend enough time together, they naturally become comfortable with one another. As they share experiences, support each other through challenges and build a life together, they develop a strong emotional connection.
“Naweza sema watu wawili wakipatana wata grow fond of each other. Watalearn. Kutakuwa na ile bond fulani watakuwa nayo.”
He argued that this bond becomes even stronger after marriage, raising children and spending years together.
“Then kunakuwa na ka feeling kwa sababu ya huyu mtu mmeshazoeana. Mkiendelea, muoe, muwe na watoto, hiyo kukaa pamoja, hiyo bond kuiweka hapo ndiyo watu wanaiita love.”
In his view, society has simply given that attachment the name “love”.
Why people move on
Nicki went on to explain why he believes love cannot be real if people can move on from one partner to another.
He questioned how someone can claim they truly loved one person before later saying another partner is the love of their life.

“Kama love ingekuwa real, sioni vile nitakuwa napenda huyu, naachana na huyu, naenda kwa huyu mwingine.”
He said the same reasoning applies to people who have had multiple relationships.
“Sasa niko na exes kumi, sasa nimepata huyu nampenda zaidi, kumaanisha it wasn’t really in the first place.”
For Nicki, this shows that feelings change over time, making love, as commonly understood, difficult to define as something permanent.
Everyone has their own belief.
Although firm in his position, Nicki acknowledged that not everyone shares his thinking.
He said people who believe in love are free to continue doing so, but he remains unconvinced.
“Kwa wale wanaamini, well and good for you. Lakini kwangu mimi naona uwongo tupu.”
Nicki’s remarks have sparked conversations among viewers after the interview was shared on Alex Mwakideu’s Instagram page and YouTube channel.
