American rapper Chance the Rapper has shared photos from his visit to the Nairobi National Museum as he continues his tour of Kenya.
The Grammy Award-winning artist also posted highlights from his visit to Mombasa, giving fans a glimpse of his experiences across the country.
In one of his posts, Chance revealed that he visited the museum to learn more about the Kenya Land and Freedom Army, popularly known as the Mau Mau.
“Today we went to Nairobi to learn more about the Land & Freedom Army, popularly known as the Mau Mau,” he said.
The rapper praised the movement’s role in Kenya’s struggle for independence, describing it as an incredibly important and successful violent revolt against British colonialism and subjugation.
He also called for greater awareness of the country’s liberation history, saying it should be passed on to future generations.
“The history of this incredibly important and successful violent revolt against British Colonialism and Subjugation MUST be taught to your children. Thank you, Kenya, for everything,” he said.
Chance the Rapper’s visit to Kenya has seen him explore both historical and cultural sites, with his social media posts showing the country’s rich heritage and coastal attractions.
Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, professionally known as Chance the Rapper, is an American rapper born on April 16, 1993, in Chicago, Illinois.
He rose to prominence with his second mixtape, Acid Rap (2013), which established him as one of the leading independent artists in hip-hop.
His third mixtape, Coloring Book (2016), made history as the first streaming-only project to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
The project also earned him Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Rap Performance for the hit single No Problem, featuring 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne. His debut studio album, The Big Day (2019), reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, while his second album, Star Line, was released in 2025.
Beyond his solo career, Chance the Rapper has featured on several hit songs, including Kanye West’s Ultralight Beam and DJ Khaled’s chart-topping single I’m the One. He is also a member of the Chicago-based collective Savemoney and the lead vocalist of the hip-hop band The Social Experiment.
Outside music, Chance has built a career in television and film, serving as a judge on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow and as a coach on The Voice.
He also received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for writing and performing the song Last Christmas during his 2017 appearance on Saturday Night Live.
A three-time Grammy Award winner, Chance the Rapper has also received three BET Awards and a Soul Train Music Award.
