Gospel DJ and media personality Samuel Muraya, popularly known as DJ Mo, has opened up about his arrest along Thika Road after appearing before the Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, November 4.
The entertainer was arrested in the morning while driving his Jaguar near Roasters along Thika Road before being taken to court to answer to traffic-related charges.
Following his court appearance, DJ Mo shared a video from inside the court building, joking about his unexpected experience.
“Forgetting to renew insurance just for a day has landed me in court. Anyway, are these courts for men or not? 😂 Remember to check yours,” he wrote.
His post attracted attention, with the DJ using the experience to remind motorists to keep track of their vehicle insurance renewals.
DJ Mo explains why he was rushing
During his appearance before Senior Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo, the entertainer pleaded guilty to two traffic offences.
According to the court proceedings, DJ Mo admitted that he had been driving without valid third-party motor vehicle insurance.
He explained that his insurance cover had expired the previous day, but he had forgotten to renew it.
The DJ also told the court that he was rushing to pick up his child, who was unwell, from school when he encountered the police officers.
The second charge involved disobeying verbal instructions from a uniformed police officer.
According to the prosecution, DJ Mo had been directed by Corporal Chelimo to drive his vehicle to the police station after being stopped along the road. However, he allegedly declined and continued towards Thika.

DJ Mo fined KSh 5,000
After pleading guilty to the two charges, the entertainer was fined a total of KSh 5,000.
The magistrate imposed a KSh 3,000 fine for the insurance-related offence and another KSh 2,000 for disobeying the police officer’s instructions.
DJ Mo also told the court that the incident had disrupted his travel plans, causing him to miss a scheduled flight to the United States.
