Two killed in road accident on Matuu–Mwingi road

Two young men have died following a road accident involving a motorcycle and a saloon car along the Matuu–Mwingi road near Kithyoko town.

The accident occurred about one kilometre from Kithyoko town when a speeding saloon car reportedly rammed into a motorcycle from behind as the riders travelled along the busy stretch.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle was carrying four people at the time of the crash. The rider died on the spot, while another male passenger succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at Kithyoko Health Facility.

Two female passengers sustained multiple injuries and were later transferred to Mwingi Hospital for specialised treatment and further management.

Traffic officers from Nguutani Police Station visited the scene and launched investigations into the incident. The driver of the saloon car was arrested shortly after the accident and is being held pending further investigations.
