A heated online debate has erupted between two of Kenya’s most prominent digital personalities.
Comedian and content creator Dem wa Facebook has fired back at businesswoman Gloria Ntazola over controversial comments regarding pregnancy and financial stability.
The row began when Ntazola, a TikToker known for her blunt opinions and beauty business, posted a video suggesting that women who conceive without a solid financial plan are committing a “crime” against society.
The “Crime” of Financial Instability
In a video that quickly went viral, Gloria Ntazola did not mince her words. She argued that bringing a child into the world without the means to support them causes an unnecessary burden on everyone else.

“I think [getting pregnant] when you lack financial stability should be termed one of the biggest crimes in the history of crime,” Ntazola stated.
“You should be arrested by the authorities and arraigned in court for trial because you are inconveniencing the entire world.”
Ntazola further claimed that heavily pregnant women without “plans” to take care of their children are “criminals” who deserve to be detained. Her remarks touched a nerve in a country where the cost of living remains a significant concern for many families.
Dem wa Facebook Fires Back
Dem wa Facebook, who is currently heavily pregnant, did not take the comments lightly. She reposted Ntazola’s video on her Instagram stories to share her reaction with her followers.
The comedian questioned the source of Ntazola’s apparent anger. She suggested that such a fierce stance must have been triggered by a personal grievance rather than general social concern.
“Tell me why she is putting all this anger on us? We are just sitting at home quietly raising our pregnancies,” Dem wa Facebook remarked.
“If we are to be arrested for getting pregnant, then the government should start with your parents.”
The content creator went on to joke that if the government actually began arresting people for having children while poor, her entire family would likely end up behind bars.
She questioned why the government would focus on pregnant women instead of more pressing national issues.
A Clash of Personalities
This exchange highlights a growing divide in digital discourse regarding reproductive rights and economic status.
Gloria Ntazola first gained widespread public attention after a viral video showed her confronting a Nairobi city council officer who entered her car. She has since built a brand around her “no-nonsense” persona.
Dem wa Facebook, born Millicent Ayuwa, has risen to fame through her self-deprecating humour and relatable content. As she prepares for motherhood, her followers have rallied behind her, viewing Ntazola’s comments as an attack on expectant mothers.

The Broader Context
While this specific spat is playing out on social media, it reflects broader economic pressures in Kenya. According to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the country’s fertility rate has been declining, currently sitting at approximately 3.4 children per woman.
However, the “youth bulge” means a large portion of the population is of child-bearing age during a time of high unemployment.
