Participants had to maintain lip contact at all times, including during bathroom breaks, and even had to pass water between their mouths. The couple had also previously set a record in 2011, when they kissed for 46 hours and 24 minutes before surpassing their own milestone in 2013. Interestingly, they had not initially planned to compete in the 2013 event, which was held just before Valentine’s Day. Mixed reactions to the breakup When the news of their split was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Yaba Left Online, social media users had mixed reactions, with some questioning the significance of the record while others offered humorous takes: @SamuelI10540458: “Kissing can never keep a marriage.

What keeps a marriage is patience and perseverance.” @kene_Valentin: “Real life is different from what happens in front or camera. Know that and have peace!” @oluwatosin_glor: “The record has been broken, back to the we are not meant for each other phase.” @purpple_dove: “They weren’t meant to be together forever.” @Emmychris290: “Even the kiss couldn’t hold them from parting ways.” @AWholeSalmanPR: “That certificate no look like Guinness World Record.” @Talker_queen: “You kissed for 58 hours and 35 minutes? You both just exchanged mouth yeast and mouth infections. It transfers mouth germs. My neighbour is currently hospitalised because he kissed.”
