The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) in Mandera South has launched a Ksh 7 million bursary fund to support the most needy students in the constituency.
Speaking at Mandera Teachers Training College during the launch, Mandera South Member of Parliament Abdulwahab Kore emphasized that the initiative aims to improve access to education by funding students in schools, colleges, and universities, particularly those pursuing teaching courses.
The MP reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that no student stays at home due to a lack of school fees.
“Education is the key to transforming our community. We are determined to support every deserving student to achieve their dreams,” he stated.
Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif urged the students to work hard so that they can positively impact their community.
He also promised that the first cohort graduating from the Teachers Training College would be prioritized for teaching jobs in the county.
Mandera Senator Ali Roba assured the students that the shortage of teachers in the county would soon be a thing of the past.
He added that leaders in the county are committed to supporting all students pursuing teaching courses to address the education gap in our region,
County Director of Education, Abdi Sheikh, encouraged the students, stressing that the community’s hopes are pinned on them to help address the teaching crisis in the county.
The programme is expected to benefit over 200 students in Mandera South who are enrolled in universities and colleges.
