Kenyans have told off Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichungwa for saying that young Henry Omondi does not understand the importance of an airport, since he has never been there.  What did Ichungwa say about Omondi? Omondi famously defended the airport at the height of the Adani deal with the government of Kenya, which sought to renovate it.

He was seen agitating against the deal during protests that had been organised by the Gen Zs. “I am certain the young man (Henry Omondi) who clearly from what I saw, has never patronised an airport, does not even understand the value of an international airport; not to an economy of ours, but to the regional economy,” said Ichungwa.  A section of Kenyans who heard the sentiments was disappointed, arguing that people who had never visited the airport had a right to speak about the policies that shape the country.

Some were also quick to remind the legislator that Omondi recently went to the airport and had his first-ever flight in the company of comedian Eric Omondi. Reactions by Kenyans Mailu Juniuor “So you are competing with the young man!” Mwenja Kiha Joseph: “Whether the boy understands the value of JKIA or not he is clever. He knows exactly what he is protesting.” Njiru Samuel Sam: “The stupidity and ignorance with our politicians is above reproach.

How do you engage in a bare knuckle fight with an ordinary citizen and moreso the poor and downtrodden just to ink exploitative deals meant to loot the country dry,not forgetting the boy was vindicated when it emerged that the entire deal is scandalous. Soon the housing deals and tendering by the mighty will exposed to the nation too.” Jim Mwaura Gacheru: “Your statement might be true.

But we are also certain that the Adani deal is not transparent. The way you are all supporting it means there are several huge kickbacks coming your way.” Mary Mutaaru: “Are these politicians telling us that we are not capable of questioning our taxes? Then , they who patronize the airport should solely contribute for its construction!”
