Africa’s Next Super Model Winner Bags KSh 645k at Star-Studded Event

 

The 18-year-old was crowned at an electrifying grand finale held at the Broadwalk Mall in Nairobi. Why was Chol Tot Nyang crowned Africa’s Next Super Model? The beautiful and confident South Sudanese stood out among 17 finalists from across the continent. Chol, who is from the Kakuma refugee camp, mesmerised judges and audiences with her unique charm, grace, and runway prowess. 

It is important to note that Chol Tot Nyang has succeeded Chol Khan, who was awarded this title at Kenya’s inaugural Africa’s Next Super Model in October 2023. Judges cheer as Africa’s Next Super Model finalists showcase their talents on the runway.  Magdalene Takanyiro’s top-five finish at the November 9 event secured her a spot in Milan in February 2025 alongside the winner, a significant accomplishment for Kenya. What was Kipchumba Murkomen’s message? Notable figures participated in the event, including Timothy Owase, CEO of the Kenya Film Commission, who delivered a message on behalf of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen. 

In the speech, Murkomen affirmed support for creatives to enable them to monetise their talents. “We believe in fostering an environment where creatives in Kenya and across Africa can turn their talents into careers, their passions into livelihoods and their dreams into global successes.” He also revealed the government’s plan to reduce taxes on filming equipment to support the creative industry. “We are in the final stages of securing tax breaks and incentives for filmmakers in Kenya. With the national treasury’s support, these incentives will reduce barriers to entry, attract local international projects, and create jobs within our borders,” he added. 

Also in attendance was the Music Copyright Society of Kenya Ezekiel Mutua, who praised the platform’s growth and impact on the creative economy and noted the event’s development since its debut in an interview with TUKO.co.ke. Source: Instagram Notably, Design Essentials Cornell McBride visited Kenya for the first time to support and empower Kenyan women through his partnership with Isis Models. Additionally, Daima Mkenya Africa, founded by Zahra Balewah Moi, showcased their patriotic fabric featuring the Kenyan flag at the event. Isis Models founder and CEO Joan Okorodudu announced that Nairobi will play a central role in her vision for making the country a global fashion hub. 

She confirmed that top models from Africa’s Next Super Model have already been signed by international modelling agencies in Paris, New York, and London, positioning them as ambassadors of African beauty and talent on the global stage.
