City preacher Reverend Lucy Natasha has clarified the future of Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) following concerns sparked by the closure of its Nairobi worship venue.
Earlier this month, the gospel minister announced that ECC would stop holding physical services at its long-standing location on the rooftop of Biashara Plaza, at the junction of Moi Avenue and Biashara Street. At the time, she suggested the move was temporary, citing challenges with the venue.
Lease Expiry Marks Turning Point for Ministry
In a follow-up statement issued on Wednesday, January 14, Natasha — fondly known to her followers as Mama Oracle — revealed that the closure is permanent following the expiry of the church’s five-year lease.
According to the preacher, the decision represents a strategic shift rather than a setback.
“This is a forward-looking step,” she explained. “As a ministry, we are trusting God for our own permanent home — land that will host a church sanctuary, a television ministry, and a school. This is about ownership, legacy and long-term impact.”
‘ECC Is More Than a Building,’ Natasha Says
Despite shutting the physical location, Natasha reassured congregants that worship would continue uninterrupted through digital platforms. She emphasised that ECC has grown into a global online ministry.
“ECC is more than a building,” she said. “Our services continue fully online, reaching over 10 million people globally. Our outreach and compassion initiatives will also continue as we trust God for our own space.”
Preacher Addresses Rumours and Calls for Unity
Natasha also addressed speculation and misinformation circulating online, urging unity among her followers and choosing forgiveness over confrontation.
“To those spreading falsehoods, I choose forgiveness,” she stated. “To our sons and daughters, ministry partners and friends, let us stand together as we step into this next level. This is the beginning of something greater.”
Supporters Rally Behind Mama Oracle
Her update sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many supporters offering prayers and encouragement. Several described the transition as a necessary step towards a bigger vision and applauded her resilience.
What’s Next for Empowerment Christian Church
Empowerment Christian Church has been a prominent fixture in Nairobi’s evangelical scene, known for its modern worship style and strong digital presence. Natasha — now known as Dr. Lucy Natasha Carmel following her marriage to Prophet Stanley Carmel — has steadily expanded the ministry’s reach through online preaching and global broadcasts.
While the closure of the Biashara Plaza venue marks the end of an era, church leadership remains optimistic that the next chapter will lead to a permanent home aligned with the ministry’s long-term vision.
