The Ngong road-Naivasha road flyover project near Junction Mall is steadily taking shape, with major progress recorded on the erection of steel structures, according to the latest site photos.
The project, being implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), involves the construction of a four-lane elevated road complete with pedestrian and cycling lanes, and is designed to ease chronic traffic congestion along one of Nairobi’s busiest corridors.
Recent images show that the steel superstructure of the viaduct is almost complete, marking a significant milestone in the project’s delivery.

With the steel framework largely in place, the next phases will focus on casting the concrete deck and undertaking road works, pointing to a possible handover of the flyover section by June or July 2026.
The flyover is funded through a concessional loan of Sh3.58 billion from the Spanish Corporate International Fund (FIEM).
Construction is being undertaken by a Spanish firm that also delivered the Thika Superhighway flyover, a project credited with easing traffic flow along the busy northern corridor.
Officials say the project forms part of a wider Ngong road-Naivasha road corridor upgrade and KURA’s broader strategy to modernise Nairobi’s urban transport network.
To reduce disruption to motorists and businesses, much of the work is being carried out at night.

Once completed, the flyover is expected to significantly reduce congestion at key junctions, cutting travel times for motorists and public transport users.
The project also prioritises safety through the inclusion of Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

Additional features include modern street lighting to improve visibility, upgraded drainage systems to reduce flooding during rainy seasons, and landscaping intended to enhance the area’s urban environment.
