Kenya tops global artificial intelligence adoption rates, with 97.5% of internet users aged 16 and above utilising AI platforms, according to the Digital 2026 Mid-Year Global Update Report.
Emerging markets dominate the global ranking measuring the share of adult internet users engaging with AI tools.
Following Kenya, the United Arab Emirates recorded the second-highest usage at 94.2%, closely followed by Indonesia at 93.6% and Egypt at 93.4%.
The Philippines and Malaysia also showcased high adoption levels, recording 92.6% and 91.8% engagement respectively.
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam tracked closely behind with 91.3%, while Brazil led Latin American figures at 90.6%.
African nations maintain a strong presence in the global standings. South Africa posted an adoption rate of 89.9%, while Nigeria recorded 89.4%, putting both countries ahead of several Middle Eastern and European nations.
In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia stands at 89.3%, followed by Israel at 88.7% and Turkey at 88.6%.
Latin America rounds out the global overview, with Mexico recording an 87.2% usage rate among adult internet users and Colombia standing at 87.0%.
