Truphena Muthoni Clears the Air on Dating Speculation After Viral Dubai Flight Photos

Kenyan environmentalist and Guinness World Record holder Truphena Muthoni has officially addressed speculation regarding her relationship status.

This follows a viral video of the 22-year-old being spotted with an unidentified man while travelling back from a high-profile vacation in Dubai.

The Flight to Nairobi

The internet sensation was seen aboard a plane returning to Kenya after a fully sponsored holiday in the United Arab Emirates. In the photos, Muthoni appeared relaxed, but fans were quick to notice a male companion seated beside her.

As the clips circulated on social media, many followers began to suggest that the “tree-hugging queen” had finally found somebody’s son.

“I want to heartbreak you all, Truphena has a boyfriend, you all should stay guided, her millions are in safe hands,” a social media user, Mary Njoroge, alleged, tagging the photos.

Setting the Record Straight on X

Muthoni, who is known for her direct communication with fans, took to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to shut down the rumours.

She made it clear that her heart—and her time—remain focused on her environmental activism and her recent record-breaking achievements.

False allegations. I don’t have a boyfriend. Stop putting Words into my mouth, please,” she stated.

She urged her followers not to lose sight of her mission, reminding them that her recent trip was a reward for her resilience in climate advocacy rather than a romantic getaway.

From Nyeri to Dubai: A Whirlwind Year

Truphena Muthoni became a household name in 2025 after successfully hugging a tree for 48 hours in Nairobi’s Michuki Park, a feat officially recognised by Guinness World Records.

In December, she pushed her limits even further by completing a 72-hour tree-hugging marathon in Nyeri, enduring harsh weather and exhaustion to raise awareness for mental health and indigenous forest conservation.

Her efforts caught the attention of President William Ruto, who appointed her as the Ambassador for the 15 Billion Tree Campaign. As part of her recognition, she was gifted several luxury holidays and a fully paid university scholarship.
