Trans Nzoia: MP Kakai Bisau Gets Boost as Wanyonyi, Clergy Back His Bid To Unseat Natembeya

Kiminini MP Maurice Kakai Bisau’s bid to become Trans Nzoia Governor in 2027 has received a significant boost. Kwanza MP Ferdinand Wanyonyi lauded Bisau’s performance in his first term. On Monday, August 25, Bisau got an endorsement from his Kwanza constituency counterpart, Ferdinand Wanyonyi. Speaking at AIC Kapkoi Secondary School during the official opening of a twin laboratory funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), Wanyonyi praised Bisau’s performance as a first-term lawmaker, stating that he deserves a promotion. Wanyonyi, who is serving his third term in the August House, expressed his readiness to leverage his political experience to help Bisau unseat the incumbent Governor, George Natembeya.

“So far, Bisau’s performance has been amazing, and the only way to appreciate him is to give him a promotion. My brother Bisau, now the ball is in your court. I personally will support you,” Wanyonyi said. At the same event, a group of religious leaders, including Benjamin Tarus, the Bishop of AIC Kitale Area Church Council, and Bishop Nathan Munoko, echoed Wanyonyi’s sentiments, calling for Bisau to be elected as the third Governor of Trans Nzoia County. Did Bisau accept new endorsements? While accepting their endorsements, Bisau assured the leaders that he would ensure proper resource utilisation and that the people of Trans Nzoia would benefit from the fruits of devolution. Bisau also criticised Governor Natembeya, accusing him of failing to deliver on his Ukombozi manifesto.

“It is laughable that Trans Nzoia, which is home to two major water towers, Mt Elgon and Cherang’any Hills, still lack reliable water access. If you give me the chance to be your Governor, I will ensure all homesteads in this County have access to clean and safe drinking water,” Bisau said. He further urged Natembeya, with whom he was elected in 2022 under the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), to account for the funds his administration has received from the national government and other development partners.
