Influencer Cashmeer is facing heavy criticism after inviting a star-studded guest list to what they believed was her wedding, only for them to discover it was the launch of a private school.
While the event successfully grabbed attention, many celebrities and influencers are calling the stunt disrespectful and financially inconsiderate to those who attended.
“This Kind of Joke Doesn’t Sit Well With Me”
Media personality Faiza Shakur was one of the first to speak out. She highlighted the financial strain that guests often face when attending high-profile events.
“People pour in significant amounts of money, time, and effort to attend these events. Some even take loans, others set aside pressing bills just to show up and genuinely support someone. For a host to think they’re doing their guests a favor simply because there’s food and drinks is absurd. That kind of joke doesn’t sit well with me.”
“You Got Some Audacity”
Actor Muigai also expressed his frustration on Instagram. He criticized the deception and the audacity of the influencer.
“Yow dare you invite a whole community of influencers and celebrities to your ‘wedding’ ukijua kabisa there is no wedding then you show up in a white official suit. You got some audacity you know. Made people invest their money into the outfits and glam.”
Pritty Vishy: “I Even Went While in Pain”
Socialite Pritty Vishy, who is still recovering from a BBL procedure, revealed she pushed through pain just to support Cashmeer.
She was left feeling deceived and said the experience has made her distrustful of future invites.
“My friend even took rent money and paid her designer. I fantasized dancing with Congolese, I even wore six-inch heels! I had to pass by the pharmacy to get an injection to subdue the BBL pain… The next time I attend any ‘influencer’ event, it is God who knows — that person will have to provide proof of credibility for the invite.”
