A woman from Majengo in Nairobi county is mourning the death of her 17-year-old son. Ibrahim Ramadhan’s mum Khadija sheds tears after viewing her son’s lifeless body. The heartbroken mother broke down in tears after viewing the lifeless body of her son, Ibrahim Ramadhan, who was allegedly killed by police during an operation in the Majengo and Pumwani area. Ibrahim’s mum, Khadija Ramadhan, could not hold back her emotions as she recounted what happened to her son and their last conversation. “He told me he was going for prayers at the mosque.
They shot him as he was about to enter,” she said. Nairobi mum says her son was targeted According to Khadija, the police officer who shot Ibrahim jumped over a wall, came to the roadside, and started shooting. He then allegedly shot the 17-year-old boy in the head, causing him to collapse on the spot. “The officer shot three people, and Ibrahim was the fourth. He was shot in the head when he tried to escape. A young child came and told me that he saw my son lying on the ground,” Khadija narrated. Police address Ibrahim Ramadhan’s shooting The police alleged that the Form Three student was in possession of bhang and that his friends tried to shield him when officers attempted to arrest him. The situation escalated into an altercation between the young men and the police, leading to the shooting incident. Family and friends of 17-year-old Ibrahim Ramadhan gather at KNH to view his body.
Ibrahim was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His body was later moved to the hospital’s mortuary. Angry residents torched several police houses and a vehicle, demanding justice for the young boy. Social media users sympathise with Ibrahim’s mum Zuleikah Juma Hassan: “What do you say to ease the pain of this mother? She never had the chance to say goodbye to her son. Today, she didn’t get the opportunity to protect him. Nothing. Allah musta’an. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Police brutality must come to an end in Kenya.” Kurama Clinton: “The only thing I hate about this country is that even after all this, no compensation usually happens, and the government ignores the matter like nothing happened.”
Salama Ngure: “So sad—four more lives have been lost. Why all this killing?” Roy Kinyanjui: “So what exactly happened? Did a police officer just decide to open fire on an unarmed Kenyan high school student? What were the circumstances that led to this point-blank shooting/execution? Are there any eyewitness accounts or CCTV footage?” Joan Chebii: “So unfair, so sorry. May your tears and those of all other families be repaid. May the Lord’s justice prevail. Our authorities have caused so much harm with their power and lack of compassion. Take heart, my people… Justice will be served! These killers and heartless beings will fall.”
