Nairobi businessman Khalif Kairo is pleading with Kenyans to contribute financially as he battles a series of fraud allegations. The popular businessman is accused of receiving money from different clients but failing to deliver their vehicles. In a post on Facebook, Kairo shared that he was re-arrested yesterday after attending a mention at the Milimani Law Courts.  He revealed that he was detained overnight at the Parklands Police Station in connection with a separate matter and is currently awaiting plea-taking at the Milimani Law Courts.

Speaking about his legal troubles, Kairo lamented the toll these issues have taken on his business operations. “We have tried everything in our ability to resolve these issues amicably and ensure we do deliveries, but the negative media publicity and constant police involvement are putting us in deeper waters,” he said. “All our offices are currently closed.” Kairo emphasised his track record, adding that he had built a reputation over 10 years in the car dealership industry with no prior criminal cases. The businessman also disclosed that his crowdfunding campaign on WeFunder, which had surpassed the $100,000 milestone, was abruptly shut down due to the ongoing legal challenges. Despite this setback, Kairo remains hopeful and has made a direct appeal to his friends, fans and supporters to bail him out. He indicated that whatever amount they could spare would give him a fighting chance against the unknown forces sabotaging his company.

Kairo clarified that contributions would not be an investment but a donation to help his business survive. He also promised to release an audit trail detailing how the funds raised would be utilized once the situation stabilizes. Meanwhile, there was an emotional moment when the young entrepreneur was rearrested while leaving the court. Kairo and his mother were headed home from a mention when police officers pounced on him outside the courtroom. The mother, seemingly confused about the turn of events, tried explaining that they were handling the issue. However, she was crestfallen when the officers informed her that the car dealer had been rearrested for a different case.
