Kisumu Woman Heartbroken as Family Fails to Transport Kin’s Body for Burial over Poor Roads

Residents of Limtidi village in Muhoroni in Kisumu county are protesting the poor state of feeder roads in the area. Kisumu woman laments as poor state of roads blocks them from ferrying deceased body for burial. The locals blamed their leaders for laxity, noting that they have ignored their pleas to fix the bad roads.

Moreover, the poor state of the roads has negatively impacted business activities within the area and interfered with the residents’ personal lives. Residents decry poor state of Muhoroni roads Christine Awuor, one of the residents, expressed worry over how her family will ferry their dead kin home for burial. Awuors said the hearse could only reach where the tarmac ends, and they would be forced to find other means of getting their kin home for burial rites.

“Right now, we have an elderly woman who has died; we do not know how we are going to transport her body from the mortuary for burial. We have the money to pay mortuary bills and to hire the hearse,” she said in a report by Ramogi TV. “Are we going to pay for the hearse only to carry the body on our backs or on a donkey?” she posed. She further called on Vitalis Komudho, the area Member of the County Assembly (MCA), to fix the poor roads, adding that it is long overdue.
