Oscar Sudi Threatens to Sue Morara Kebaso over Remarks on His Photo with Kasmuel McOure

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has threatened legal action over political activist Morara Kebaso’s comments on his photo with Kasmuel McOure. Oscar Sudi has threatened to sue Morara Kebaso over comments on a photo of him conversing with Kasmuel McOure.

What did Morara say about Sudi’s photo? On Sunday, December 22, Morara shared a photo on his X platform showing McOure standing next to MP Sudi. He further criticised McOure for being friendly with Sudi. He argued that McOure should have focused on starting a business and seeking support from Kenyans rather than spending time with Sudi and other members of the Kenya Kwanza regime.

“Ohh my God, Kaswuel, why? Is it money? You should have started any business we support you. Kasmuel McOure, you have hurt Kenyans who believed in you in a way you will never imagine,” Morara’s statement read in part. Morara also suggested that McOure was associating with the individuals who allegedly caused the deaths of many Gen Zs during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests. How did Sudi respond to Morara’s statement? The Kapseret MP, through his lawyers, sent Morara a demand letter seeking an apology for his statement. Sudi’s lawyers argued that Morara’s statement was defamatory and damaged the MP’s reputation..

“By referring to “these same people” and juxtaposing Hon.Sudi’s image alongside the phrase “killed Gen Z in cold blood and benefitted from it”, you expressly or by innuendo portrayed our client as a murderer, profiteer who exploited tragedies for personal financial gain, a dishonest leader and a corrupt associate,” the statement read in part. Sudi’s lawyers said Morara made these statements recklessly, without verifying the facts, while fully aware of the potential impact on their client’s image.

“Your publication was reckless and irresponsible considering your substantial audience /followers of over 284,000 followers on X platform. The harm caused to our client’s reputation cannot be overstated,” the statement further read. What is Sudi demanding from Morara? The MP’s lawyers have demanded that Morara issue a written, unconditional apology. Morara is also expected to immediately admit liability, after which discussions will begin on the damages to be paid.

He is also expected not to publish any defamatory photos or comments about the MP in the future. Sudi’s lawyers have stated that further legal action will be taken if Morara fails to respond to the demand letter within three days. “Take notice that unless we hear from you on the above within three days of receipt of this letter, we have mandatory instructions to institute relevant legal proceedings against you in the protection of our client’s interests without any further reference to you and at all times holding you liable for the costs hereby incurred and attendant consequences arising therefrom,” Sudi’s lawyers said.
