This partly contributed to her divorce.

Unknown to many Matubia was officially married to her now ex Kennedy Njogu. Njogu, who works in the aviation industry, and is her firstborn daughter’s father.

The couple, who started their relationship in 2014, finalized their divorce in March 2019 after seven years of an on-and-off marriage.

“For seven years, I’d pack up and leave, then return. One day, I looked in the mirror and asked myself, ‘What makes Jackie happy?’ Our life had become chaotic. Fighting was so frequent it felt normal. That’s when I knew it was time to walk away,” she concluded.

She added that she never lacked anything in her past marriage.

“I was married to a man who ensured I never had to ask for anything—he always provided. But there was a downside. He wanted me to be a stay-at-home mom, which conflicted with my personality. I’ve always been the type to work and pursue something for myself. Being confined at home just didn’t align with who I am,” she explained.

“Being a housewife is a wonderful thing for many women, but not for someone like me. I have ambitions and a vision I want to achieve. That’s where the friction began,” she added.

Matubia described Njogu as an amazing husband

“He was very supportive. He bought me a car, we lived in a beautiful home, and he provided for everything, even the smallest needs. But I felt unsettled. I had this deep desire to work and not put my life on hold for someone else. I wasn’t at peace knowing I had paused my dreams,” she stated.

“We were both 23 when we got married, and I had my first daughter at 25. We were young, juggling careers, parenthood, and marriage all at once. It was overwhelming, and we didn’t have mentors to guide us through the challenges of marriage,” the 34-year-old actress admitted.

Matubia has never shied away about her friendship with her ex-husband. She on the other hand has nothing good to say about her ex Blessing Lungaho. He is the father of Matubia’s second child.
