A massive drop in web traffic has hit major global online platforms over the two-year period ending June 2026, according to data from Visual Capitalist.
Microsoft’s Bing search engine experienced the steepest decline worldwide, losing a staggering 23.9 billion visits between the July 2024–June 2025 and July 2025–June 2026 reporting periods.
Knowledge and social media hubs were also severely impacted. Wikipedia lost 9.8 billion visits, followed closely by Facebook with a 9.7 billion decrease.
Amazon and OpenAI also saw multi-billion visit drop-offs, shedding 4.9 billion and 4.0 billion visits respectively, signalling major shifts in digital user behaviour.
