Reverend Kathy Kiuna has shared a reflective message about her 30-year marriage to her late husband, Bishop Allan Kiuna. Bishop Allan Kiuna died on 9 July 2024 at the age of 57 following a battle with cancer.
Taking to Instagram, the co-founder of Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) opened up about personal grief and discussed how modern relationships differ from the union she shared with her husband.
In her post, she recalled the early days of their relationship, noting that faith was the primary foundation of their lives together.
She explained that spiritual commitment provided stability throughout their three decades together.
“There was a time when all we had was this; us and God. When the tides were high, when the storms were raging, God never left and so we remained guarded because He was our foundation for 30 years.”
A Warning on Modern Marriages
Kathy Kiuna contrasted her personal experience with contemporary relationship trends. She stated that many modern unions depend on public visibility, material status, and social media validation rather than spiritual grounding.
“We are in a generation where marriage are founded on fame,looks and wealth and social likes but no presence of God.”
She observed that when circumstances shift, relationships built on superficial factors often struggle to survive.
“And so when the lifestyle shifts, the people shift onto the next.”
According to the preacher, navigating difficult seasons and extending forgiveness require divine support rather than material assets.
“Hear me, God is the only one who can give you capacity to handle fame and success, He is the only one who can give you grace to forgive your partner, He is the one who holds the marriage together and gives you grace for tough seasons.”
She urged couples not to allow personal achievements to replace spiritual principles.
“Beauty, money, success are important to man, but do not allow them to replace God.”
“Reflect today, what have we as a couple given our hearts to because God says, my son give ME your heart and observe MY ways.”
Navigating Grief and Finding Refuge
Following the passing of her husband, Kathy Kiuna admitted to experiencing deep emotional loss, while emphasising that her faith continues to sustain her through widowhood.
“I miss my husband terribly, but the same God that was with us is with me and He has proven to me that His love for me is greater that how my husband could ever love me.”
She described her faith as a continued source of protection and stability.
The couple married in 1993 and founded Jubilee Christian Church in Nairobi in 1994. Over three decades, the ministry grew into one of Kenya’s largest Christian congregations.
Bishop Allan Kiuna was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018 and underwent treatment in Kenya and the United States before his death in July 2024. He was laid to rest at JCC Paradise in Thindigua, Kiambu County, leaving behind his wife and three children: Vanessa, Stephanie, and Jeremy.
