Kasmuel McOure Slams ODM Leaders Giving Ruto Tough Conditions Ahead of 2027 Poll

ODM politician Kasmuel McOure has publicly rebuked fellow party leaders who have been attaching conditions to their support for President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election, accusing them of undermining an ongoing coalition negotiation process. Kasmuel McOure slammed ODM leaders, giving Ruto tough conditions ahead of the 2027 poll. Some ODM figures have been pushing for a 50-50 share of government positions as well as the deputy president slot, currently occupied by Kithure Kindiki, as the price for backing Ruto’s re-election bid.

McOure challenges negotiation contradictions McOure questioned the logic of maintaining a joint committee tasked with brokering a pre-election agreement between ODM and UDA while individual leaders continued to air unresolved demands at public rallies.  “Our leaders tell us that a joint committee is working on a pre-election coalition agreement between ODM and UDA, and that we therefore need not worry or speak about it. If that is the case, why is it that whenever they get a microphone in public, all they say is that they will work with President Ruto ONLY IF certain conditions are met?” McOure said. He pressed further, asking whether those conditions had ever been raised at the negotiating table or whether the committee had simply failed to resolve them internally. “Were these conditions not discussed at the negotiating table? Or are we to understand that our negotiating team could not resolve in the boardroom what our leaders now insist on litigating at public rallies? Surely, what is the point of a joint committee if every rally becomes another round of negotiations?” he added.

McOure declares unconditional support for Ruto McOure made his own position clear, declaring that Ruto deserved backing without any preconditions attached. “Ruto tunampea TUTAM BILA CONDITIONS. Usawa Ni Sawa. Mbele Pamoja,” he said. UDA-ODM 2027 deal His remarks signal growing tension within ODM between those willing to align with Ruto on open terms and those seeking to extract specific concessions before committing to any formal arrangement. The debate over the terms of a possible UDA-ODM coalition has intensified as the 2027 election cycle draws closer, with the deputy president position emerging as one of the most contentious sticking points.
