Krisbabyy Shares Raw Truths About Motherhood and Breastfeeding Phases

Kenyan digital content creator Christine Irungu, known online as @_krisbabyy, has opened up about her experiences with motherhood and the realities of breastfeeding.

Her journey began with the birth of her first child. He was born on Saturday, 20 December 2025, after she checked into Nairobi Hospital.

Since then, she has shared how the process of feeding her child has transformed her. She describes breastfeeding as something that has “truly come in phases”. Her reflections offer a raw look at the physical and emotional shifts that occur during this time.

The Physical Preparation

The transformation began long before her son arrived. During her pregnancy, she noticed her body preparing for its new role. She remembers swollen, itchy, heavy boobs preparing for what was to come.

However, the transition to life with a newborn brought unexpected challenges. In the postpartum period, she faced a difficult start. She describes boobs so full, but almost no milk.

“Breastfeeding has truly come in phases. Pregnancy: swollen, itchy, heavy boobs preparing for what was to come. I pumped, stayed hydrated, ate well, massaged, and refused to give up.”

Through persistence, she eventually reached a more stable period. This was a beautiful season of a steady milk supply. During this time, she got to experience the joy of nourishing my baby with my own body.

A Mental and Emotional Hurdle

Beyond the physical demands, Kris Baby highlights the psychological impact of the journey. She believes the mental health side of feeding is often overlooked.

“One thing I wish more people talked about is how mental breastfeeding is,” she shares. She notes that a mother can “love feeding your baby with your whole heart and still find the journey emotionally exhausting.”

The pressure to succeed can be heavy for new mothers. She acknowledges that “the worry, the pressure, the changing seasons…it’s all part of it.”

Embracing New Seasons

Motherhood has taught the creator that nothing remains the same for long. As Jojo grows, their routine is shifting once again. He is currently breastfeeding less as they slowly wean.

This transition has caused her milk supply to change naturally. She describes this current phase as “bittersweet.” Despite the mixed emotions, she says it is “a new reality I’m learning to embrace.”

“Motherhood is constantly reminding me that every season has its purpose.”

She views these shifts as a necessary part of growth. For her, “sometimes we have to let go of one beautiful chapter to make room for the next.”

Encouragement for Others

Throughout every struggle and change, her primary focus remains the health of her child. She finds peace in the fact that “my baby has been fed, nourished, loved, and continues to thrive”. She believes this is what matters most.

Her final message to other mothers is one of self-compassion. She encourages those in the middle of their own journeys to “be gentle with yourself.”

“It’s okay to love it, struggle with it, and grieve the changes all at the same time,” she concludes.
