Norway boss plays down illness in camp ahead of England quarter-final clash

Norway boss Stale Solbakken is not concerned by illness in the squad ahead of Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against England, insisting the team’s doctor has the situation under control.

Solbakken revealed only Jorgen Strand Larsen had suffered a fever, while the rest of the group had experienced minor coughs.

He said the symptoms were likely linked to air conditioning, flights and the demands of travel, and noted that with more than 50 players and staff in the camp, some illness was inevitable.

Solbakken added that even those affected were returning to full fitness and expected everyone to be available.

Crystal Palace’s Strand Larsen missed Norway’s opening game against Iraq through illness, while Marcus Holmgren Pedersen was absent from the last-16 victory over Brazil after being struck down by a bug.
