Super Metro has dismissed claims by Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina that its buses had transported people allegedly brought in to disrupt former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s political meetings in the county.
The clarification came after Maina claimed the transport company was ferrying what she described as “goons” to Kirinyaga.
“Super Metro!!! I see you have transported goons to Kirinyaga to wreak havoc at Riggy G’s meetings,” Maina alleged in a post.
She further warned that local organisers and facilitators would face legal action and said the company could also be held legally responsible if violence occurred during any of the meetings.
AIC Ziwani Christian Youth in Action (CYA) said the buses were instead carrying secondary school boys and girls who were travelling to Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency for a nature hike.
The church said the outing took place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, under its Christian Youth in Action programme.
In a statement, AIC Ziwani described the activity as a day of fellowship, adventure and interaction with nature, with the youth taking part in forest bathing and water-based activities.
The church also thanked Super Metro for providing transport for the group.
“A special appreciation goes to Super Metro for partnering with us and providing safe, reliable, and comfortable transport for our young people,” the church said.
According to the church, the young people had no connection to the political activities in Kirinyaga.
Super Metro later shared the church’s clarification, stating that the buses spotted in Kirinyaga were carrying secondary school boys and girls who were heading to Kathandeni Forest for the hike.
“The AIC Church Ziwani Nairobi has clarified that the buses spotted in Kirinyaga were carrying secondary school boys and girls who were heading for a hike at Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency. The youths had no connection to political activities amid earlier claims that the buses were carrying people brought in to cause havoc at Rigathi Gachagua’s meetings,” the company said.
The clarification comes as Gachagua continues political mobilisation across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election, with his meetings attracting attention over the groups attending them and the political environment surrounding the events.
