The application deadline for placement into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions and Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) diploma and certificate programmes through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) expires today.
The application portal will close at 11.59pm on Monday, June 8, 2026.
The current intake is open to KCSE holders from the 2000 to 2025 cohorts, with applicants eligible regardless of their grade, from A to E.
Admission into KMTC campuses will be immediate.
KUCCPS on May 16 issued a second call for TVET applications and revision of university courses after the lapse of the initial application deadline on May 6.
While the university course revision window closed on May 22, applications for TVET programmes remained open to allow more candidates to apply.
The placement service urged Form Four leavers to take advantage of the extended application period and enrol in programmes that equip them with skills aligned to labour market demands.
“In today’s workplace, technical and vocational skills make all the difference. Start your journey to acquiring the right skills by applying for TVET programmes through the KUCCPS system http://students.kuccps.ac.ke. TVET application is open until June 8, 2026,” KUCCPS said in a notice.
The agency has also been conducting public sensitisation campaigns, career guidance forums and webinars aimed at connecting more students with higher education and training opportunities.
The government has increasingly prioritised Technical and Vocational Education and Training as part of efforts to tackle youth unemployment, address critical skills shortages in the labour market and support the country’s industrialisation and economic development agenda.
Among the key objectives is bridging the skills gap by producing a workforce with practical, industry-relevant competencies, including electricians, plumbers and information technology professionals, to meet evolving market needs and improve employability.
To achieve this, the government has been expanding access to technical education through the establishment and equipping of modern training institutions in constituencies across the country.
TVET Principal Secretary Esther Muoria has maintained that the State Department remains committed to strengthening partnerships with industry players to enhance programme implementation and create seamless pathways from training institutions to employment.
Speaking on June 5 during the inaugural graduation ceremony of Sabatia Technical and Vocational College in Vihiga county, Muoria urged graduates and trainees to acquire essential documents such as passports and maintain discipline to improve their prospects in the job market.
“The graduation of the first cohort marks an important milestone in the growth of the institution and reflects the expanding impact of Technical and Vocational Education and Training in equipping young people with practical skills, fostering innovation and creating pathways to meaningful employment. It was encouraging to note that several graduates have already secured job opportunities and others have recently been recruited in the maritime sector,” she said.
