The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the appointment of Sharon J. Kisire as its new Vice Chairperson, effective 21st May 2026.
Kisire takes over the position following the completion of the tenure of Leila Ali Abdi.
In a post, the Commission welcomed her appointment and wished her success as she assumes the new role.
“Join us in wishing CS Sharon J. Kisire all the best in her new leadership role!” the TSC said in the post.
In her new role as Vice Chairperson, Kisire is expected to support the Chairperson in steering the Commission’s policy direction, overseeing strategic decision-making, and ensuring effective coordination of its constitutional mandate.
Kisire is not new to the commission.
She has served as a TSC Commissioner since 2021, having been one of five members nominated to the Commission by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, before her subsequent appointment.
With more than 20 years of experience in human resource management and organisational leadership, Kisire brings extensive expertise drawn from both the public and private sectors.
Over the years, she has held senior leadership positions in several major institutions.
In addition, she previously worked as Head of HR Consulting at Powerhouse HR Consulting, LLC, where she provided advisory services on organisational development, workforce management, and governance systems.
She has also served as Chairperson of the Human Resource Management Professionals Examinations Board (HRMPEB), further cementing her role in shaping professional standards within the HR sector.
Academically, Kisire holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology and a Master of Arts in Criminology, both from Kenyatta University.
Her appointment comes at a time when the Teachers Service Commission continues to implement wide-ranging reforms aimed at improving teacher management, strengthening accountability systems, and enhancing service delivery across the education sector.
The Commission plays a central role in ensuring effective human resource deployment in public schools nationwide.
The appointment also comes just a month after TSC announced vacancies for two Commissioner positions, with a selection panel inviting applications from qualified Kenyans to fill the leadership gaps.
Kisire’s elevation to Vice Chairperson is expected to provide continuity and stability within the Commission’s leadership team.
As Vice Chairperson, she is expected to support the Chairperson in steering policy direction, strengthening institutional governance, and overseeing key reforms affecting teacher recruitment, deployment, promotion, and discipline.
Her extensive background is expected to play a role in enhancing efficiency within the Commission.
