On Sunday, State House Nairobi, hosted a significant gathering of Akorino bishops and pastors. Among the religious leaders was the popular musician, Karangu Muraya.
His message to President William Ruto has since sparked a massive conversation across social media platforms.
The visit marked a milestone for the Akorino clerical group. Muraya noted that their delegation has been meeting annually since 2016. This year’s visit was particularly symbolic, as it represented 10 years of these annual gatherings.

The Message from the Spirit
While addressing the President, Muraya claimed to have received a divine message. He stated that the Holy Spirit had spoken to the pastors present. He framed the prophecy around the group’s own history of longevity.
“The Spirit of God told me to tell you that just as the church has reached 10 years today, your Excellency, you will reach 10 years in this position by the grace of God,” he said.
Muraya emphasized that this decade-long tenure would be achieved through “God’s honour.” During the speech, he also acknowledged the presence of Moses Kuria.
He noted that Kuria had worn the traditional Akorino turban (kilemba) as a sign of support for the community.
A Storm of Public Reaction
The prophecy did not go unnoticed by the public. As clips of the speech circulated online, fans and critics alike were quick to share their views. The reactions were largely sceptical, with many users questioning the authenticity of the “spirit” behind the message.

Many commenters pointed towards financial motivations. User Wanga Muthoni remarked on the “Power of brown envelope,” while Reubenson Matheri added, “Their spirit speak when it’s senses money.”
Samuel Khayumbi also noted the location of the prophecy, saying, “After state house the spirit has said.”
Other followers questioned the timing of the revelation. Denis Paul asked, “Roho hakusema before you went to statehouse?” Meanwhile, Chalze Mashz observed the President’s reaction to the speech, commenting, “Na he’s laughing thinking what mukorino is saying is true.”
Scepticism and Comparisons
Donnie Adhira went as far as to label him a “Prophet of baals.”
Some users compared the event to previous instances of religious figures supporting political leaders. Tonny Njogu wrote, “Ben Githae was singing to the same tunes, we all know all about the brown envelope.”

Esther Kimani reflected on a different era of the clergy, mentioning figures like Rev Njoya and Bishop Kipsang Muges, adding, “May their souls rest in eternal peace.”
Dany Mbaria issued a warning regarding the use of the Holy Spirit in political contexts: “Did Ruto know the same spirit will tell them not to vote? Cheza na roho wewe.”
