Source: Facebook According to KPLC, the outages, lasting up to nine hours in parts of four counties, are necessary to enhance new connections, upgrades, and replacement of power lines during road construction. “It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines,” KPLC stated in a notice, citing Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules. Residents claimed the equipment was relocated to Ol-Kalou before the July 17 by-elections due to political motives, an allegation Kenya Power denied.
