My goals and my health are no longer going in the same direction
Gachau admitted he has begun rethinking his bodybuilding journey after realising the impact it could have on his long-term health. “We take a lot of drugs to look this good, but we are also fathers and husbands,” he said.
“I’m starting to realise there is life after bodybuilding.” Gachau said this will be his final year using what he described as the more dangerous compounds. “If one day I die because of these drugs, don’t say the drugs killed Gachau. Say Gachau died doing what he loved.”
The daily reality behind bodybuilding
During the interview, Gachau revealed the demanding routine required to maintain his physique.
He said he injects testosterone regularly and currently uses about five different steroids each week.
Alongside them, he also takes numerous tablets to protect his liver, manage blood pressure, and control hormone-related side effects. “We take drugs to look good, then take other drugs to control the side effects,” he said.
He described the lifestyle as expensive, risky, and demanding, adding that his monthly spending on steroids alone is around KSh80,000. Once medication used to manage side effects is included, the figure rises to between KSh100,000 and KSh110,000 every month.

I am not healthy
Despite his muscular appearance, Gachau insisted people should not mistake his physique for good health. “I’m not healthy,” he said. “I just look good from the outside.”
He explained that his liver and kidneys work under constant strain because of the drugs he uses, adding that regular medical check-ups have become part of his routine.
“I’m a representation of a dream body, not a healthy body.” Gachau also stressed that he does not encourage others to follow the same path. He said anyone hoping to transform their body should first focus on proper nutrition and training before considering any form of enhancement.
